SlabStudio started as a personal tool — a frustration solved. Calculating slab templates by hand is slow, error-prone, and never accounts for shrinkage properly. We built the tool we wished existed.
If you've ever tried to build a round form from slabs — a vase, a bottle, a jar — you've faced the same calculation. How do you flatten a curved surface? What's the arc length? Does it account for clay shrinkage? How many panels fit on an A4 sheet?
Most potters end up doing it by hand, or guessing, or tracing around existing pots. The templates are never quite right. The clay never quite fits. The seam never quite closes.
SlabStudio was built to solve this properly — with real geometry. Every template is derived from the actual mathematics of conical and cylindrical surface development. Enter your dimensions, choose your clay body, and get print-ready templates sized for your kiln.

Diablo Atelier is a ceramics studio and school in Miraflores, Lima, Peru. We teach wheel throwing, hand building, glaze chemistry, and kiln management — from complete beginners to advanced practitioners.
SlabStudio grew out of our teaching practice. When we started running slab-building workshops, we needed a faster way to generate custom templates for students with different vessel sizes. The spreadsheet we built became a web tool. The web tool became SlabStudio.
We also serve clients in Saudi Arabia through our Riyadh location — which is why SlabStudio supports both Spanish and English, and prices in both PEN and SAR.
